Lisa
Scriver,
Child Enrichment Center
I began to
read everything I could find about infants and young children, but there
wasn't a lot. From that point forward I searched for a way to be with
them. Not school age children, but very young children - now named
'preschoolers.' At that time there was no 'early childhood education'
degree so I pursued a liberal arts format at MSU.
Eventually I
married the man of my dreams and had two sons of my own. I volunteered at
nursery school when my boys entered, volunteered in their classrooms
constantly, and eventually worked in the Lansing School District's Reading
is Fundamental Program. This lead to a job as instructional
assistant for children with special needs and my return to what was the
beginning of LCC's early childhood education program. Working for the
Child Enrichment Center has been the career of my dreams.
These
24 years have been most rewarding. The CEC families, the staff, and the
Holt United Methodist Church family make this a job to love each and every
day! How wonderful to serve children with the blessings of our Lord in His
church. Come see for yourself! Kids and love do go
hand-in-hand at the Child Enrichment Center.
My career
in child development and education began when I was presented with a beautiful
niece some 33 years ago! That is when I fell in love with small
children.
