Welcome.
Have you noticed the truth that human beings can be a lot like plants? We are fed by our roots. Our mental health is fortified by things like our family, friends, jobs, hobbies, church, service opportunities, and dreams. Life doesn't stay the same and our roots are continuously at risk. Jobs change. Friends move. Death to loved ones happens. Show me a person who is depressed and I'll show you a person who has lost roots.
I know that the church of Jesus Christ is a great place to grow roots that matter. Life is better with friends who will pray with you, offer comfort in loss, and will love your children. At the church people participate in a heavenly agenda that is greater than narrow self-interest. Roots are fed through the exercise of compassion and the living of grace. Roots are strengthened in a place where love of God and neighbor are regularly lived. At Holt United Methodist Church we are about growing Christian disciples and making a positive difference for Jesus in our communities and our world. In worship, education, service, stewardship, witness, prayer and fellowship we are daily growing roots that give life.
Just as a plant with healthy roots can stand in a storm and will blossom and bear fruit in season, so people with healthy roots in the soil of faith will flourish.
There is room for you to grow here with us.
We'd love to have you set your roots down here. Stop in during the week to get acquainted or drop by on Sunday at one of our three morning worship services to check us out (8:30 Chapel, 9:30 Contemporary, and 11:00 Traditional). Know you will be welcome.
Sincerely,
Rev. Dr. Glenn M. Wagner, Pastor
