Kathie was raised in Bath, the eldest of four children. After obtaining a B.A. in Christian Ed. from Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO, she taught 4th & 5th grades at Braeburn Baptist Academy in Houston, TX. Before moving back to Michigan, she attended Dallas Theological Seminary where she began work towards a degree in Christian Education. In 2009, Kathie completed her Certificate in Graduate Studies from D.T.S. While in seminary and after returning home, she worked with special needs children and youth both as a home respite worker and at Everett High School. Kathie began working in UM churches in 1991 and was employed by Portland UMC and First UMC of Howell before coming to Holt UMC in 2001. In 1996, she was named the Michigan Jaycees "Outstanding Young Religious Leader of the Year." While in Howell, Kathie was involved in domestic violence abuse prevention. She has recently been named a church representative through Open Eyes of Faith, a Lansing-area organization that seeks to end domestic violence in faith communities. With many years of professional and volunteer ministry experience, she is happy to say that the Lord has blessed her with a ministry career that allows her to do what she loves best: spending time with children and youth, exposing them to the love and salvation Jesus offers to all. Kathie's passions include spending time with her family and friends, reading, scrapbooking and movies.
